Because so much of our interview covers an era when he wasn't happy, Brooks mentions toward the end, like, is that a bummer? I say, absolutely not. We are in a time of massive change. Don't we all know people who are pivoting and leaving the city and or comedy right now? LA is changing too. Stories of dissatisfaction with supposedly perfect jobs, pivots major and minor, and roads abandoned seem more relevant than ever.

Brooks has long since left NYC, filmed a comedy special in Alaska, joined a Spider League, and in general, been happy. You can see him monthly at The Beacon Theater in New York.
